L'Oréal Italy announces the launch of the twentieth edition of the "L'Oréal Italy for Women and Science" Award, a program promoted in cooperation with the Italian National Commission for UNESCO, which has already awarded 100 women researchers, supporting their research projects and their studies in our Country.

Six scholarships of € 20,000 will be awarded in the following scientific-disciplinary areas: Life Sciences; Environmental Sciences; Mathematics; Computer and Information Science; Physics; Chemistry; Engineering and Technologies.

A jury composed of a panel of distinguished Italian university professors and scientists will examine the candidate projects. This year the jury, chaired by Lucia Votano, Research Director emerita, National Institute of Nuclear Physics, sees the entry of four new members, reaching a total of eleven members.

Starting from December 16, 2021, interested researchers will have to submit their application through the website https://www.forwomeninscience.com/challenge/show/35, no later than January 31, 2022.  The system will not allow access and registration for the competition after this date. Download the Regulations (in Italian).

The "For Women in Science" program, managed and created in 1998 by the L’Oréal Foundation in collaboration with UNESCO, aims to increase the presence of women in scientific careers. Over the past 23 years, more than 3,600 female researchers have been supported in their career in 117 countries.

For the first time, the twentieth Italian edition of the "L'Oréal Italia for Women and Science" Award extends the possibility of applying to female researchers with a fixed-term contract. Not only that: you must have completed at least the penultimate year of your PhD program, and in regards to the age limit of 35, there is an extension of 1 (one) year for each child.
